Dropping a Line

It’s a sad day when one has moved on. Lisa Mullins had an accident in her home and has moved on. We will all miss her reports and her. I shared both my parents’ passing in my fishing reports years ago. So, I will repeat this again.

“When I come to the end of the horizon and enter the other shore, remember me with fondness and cry for me no more. I have found my final resting place, that special spot to fish. Remember the times we shared and you, too, I will miss. This is a journey I must take, and I must go alone. Know that my heart is with you as I take this journey home. So, remember me with kindness for this is not goodbye but is just ‘til we meet again at that fishing hole in the sky.”

I’m sure Lisa’s looking down with that smile watching fish being caught from both sides of the dam and if she was here now, she would tell us the water has cooled down and the fish are biting. Trout in the river are feeding up for the October spawn.

Power bait and worms fished off the bottom will catch you a few. Walleye are hanging close to the bottom of the flats in the river and lake. Bass are hitting on top, and crappie are still holding in brush 11 to 20 feet deep.

Stripers on Beaver Lake are still between the dam and Point 6 between 20 and 30 ft. deep with live shad being the best bait, but brood shiners and bream can catch them also. Enjoy the peace on the water as Lisa always went out of her way to do.

A celebration of Lisa’s life is Saturday, Sept. 28, at Spider Creek Resort on Hwy. 187. Time depends on when the Hogs play A&M, she wouldn’t want to interfere with that. Use the back entrance on CR 135. Relatives and friends are welcome.
