Dropping a Line

355

That purple Hot and Tot will about catch anything from a walleye to a striper. We hooked into a striper upriver from Beaver on one once just to have it break off. So, we tied on another to have it break off too, but this time when it popped loose the line did not break.

But guess what we brought in? We got the first Hot ‘n Tot back. Proves the theory that a fish won’t hit the same lure twice.

Well, we’ve been up another river. The same river but where it feeds into Beaver Lake, the White and War Eagle arms. Believe we caught more white bass than striper. These cloudy days and cool nights have been playing a game with the water temp. We need it to get to a 58° and above for them to get serious about running upriver to spawn.

I’m back here till this weekend with two trips here at the Island for walleye and crappie so should have some info on how that goes by next week. Then by the time the weekend, I’m back at Hickory Creek on Beaver Lake running up the river arms after the stripers again. I do believe I will see my 58°. If not, we might backtrack and see what’s happening around Monte Ne and the Horseshoe Bend area. March catches the bigger fish.

Oh yes, the picture has an eagle sitting on the edge of his nest in the background. Be safe out there. It’s not good seeing search teams out there as we did this last week. It’s also not good for the family that lost one they loved.
