Dropping a Line

Yes, they’re in the water and they do like the cooler water temps. We seem to be running about 77° – 78° about all over.  Bass and stripers are turning on with some good catches by those getting out.

Stripers on Beaver Lake are hitting the top early then going back down below 20 ft. deep. The best spots to look now are the flats between Points 5 and 7 in water from 30 – 50 ft. deep.

Here on Table Rock, bass have really turned on and are being caught off the shoreline in water under 5 ft. deep early, since the shoreline is the coolest after these cool nights we have been getting. The Zara spook is doing very well now, then after the sun gets higher a drop shot or jig down about 20 feet should find them. Start in the back of the creek arms then work out to the deeper water as the sun gets higher.

Walleye are liking the bottom in water about 20 ft. deep from Holiday Island to Houseman Access, up river. Fish off the edge of the flats and points slow off the bottom. Big minnows and night crawlers are both working now along with jigs and drop shotting.

Crappie are closer to the shoreline now. Look for brush 5 – 12 ft. deep with a minnow or jig and you should catch some slabs.

Looks like our fall bite is starting with Bike, Blues & BBQ so watch for bikes on the road. We are open this weekend and will be doing motel pickups in Eureka since the deer also like to share the road at daylight. Be safe and enjoy your ride.
