Donald “Don” Clifton Elliott, 83, was born on a cold December 21,1935 in Nassawadox, Va., to Frank Clifton Elliott and Nellie Hill Elliott, and passed away on a warm evening on July 6, 2019 at his daughter’s home.
In the years between Don led a great life, shipping out with the USAF spending 20 years traveling the world and fixing airplanes. Never one for being idle, he held a variety of other jobs over the years after retiring from the Air Force, including horse trainer, mine foreman, job coach and Wal*Mart greeter.
Don spent his spare time as an entertainer, playing guitar for a variety of bands over the years and bringing joy and laughter to everyone he met with his inherent charm and good humor. He shared his talent with his wife’s students, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and the Gospel Mission.
His friends and family, including children Wayne and Melanie Elliott, Ron and Sue Elliott, Margie and Owen Gray, Donna “Dee” and Mike Townsend, Bill and Pam Arnold, as well as his grandchildren Janell, Alexandria, Jessica, Karissa, Audrey, and Zach Gray, Shelby Osborne Young, Dalton Kesner, Wil Arnold and Lauren Arnold Chiles, Christopher Summerlin, Samantha Goodman Phillips and Sean Elliott and four great-grandchildren will miss his stories, his love, and his spirit, but hope he enjoys an extended fishing trip with Wayne Cole and his other fishing buddies in the company of his wife, sister Anne Hill Morris, parents, and family that have gone on before.
Cremation has taken place at Terrazas Crematory. Joint services for him and his wife are to be at Terrazas Funeral Chapels on July 29 at 9:30 followed by military services at Fort Bayard National Cemetery (575) 537-0777.
