Do the math

Since early last year I have heard, and read, of the millions of dollars Carroll County will receive in tax revenue and how the schools will benefit from the proposed Nimbus Wind Farm LLC project south of Green Forest and Alpena.

At first, if I recall correctly, it was $35,000,000, then it dropped to $30,000,000, then it dropped to $25,000,000.

Then, in the last few quorum court meetings, a representative of the wind farm developer, Scout Clean Energy, stated they have recalculated and there will be more money than previously stated! Could that last increase be the result of someone actually calculating that $25,000,000 was not quite right?

Meeting with a school superintendent, he was told that the Scout rep stated his district’s share would be $600,000 a year for the next 30 Years. Alpena School District would be receiving $200,000 per year for the next 30 years

However, when explaining to the superintendent how the numbers do not equate, and after going through calculations with the superintendent, he agreed.

Recently I came across documents from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission dated September 10, 2021, titled “A Project of Scout Clean Energy” in which Scout declared “Projected Tax to Carroll County, Arkansas Over 30 Year Project Life” – $4,610,718.65.

If I am figuring right, that is $20,389,281.35 less than Scout posted publicly in 2023! This document was from less than two years before Scout was boasting of the $25,000,000 in tax revenue for Carroll County.

Also, Scout, in 2023, stated that landowners, combined, would be receiving $14,000,000. However, published in that same article of 2021 by/with the AEDC, landowners were to receive $11,000,000.

Scout Clean Energy has been quoted by news media that the proposed Nimbus Project is to include 9,500 Acres. [Yet] a September 10, 2021, report read that the projected area is 15,000 acres.
