The Permanent Outdoor Entertainment Zone (POEZ) is up for final approval from city leaders. This Pines neighbor and citizen of Eureka OPPOSES this designation.
As stated during my 3-minute comment at the 9 Sept. council meeting, this zone will increase traffic, noise and mayhem in the communities abutting this zone. Residents of the Pines will feel the brunt of this tourist venue all in hopes this will energize the ES tourism matter.
This zone will not be the magic coin to re-energize tourism, however it will force permanent residents to consider if the secluded, quiet and safe is available in Eureka. The Pines addition was established in 1968, and home to many who knew Eureka as their quiet haven.
With tourism being deemed of greater importance than residents, we shall soon see these residents looking for places that offer reasonable residential rights over almighty tourism.
This resident OPPOSES this POEZ. The city’s leaders know by enacting this zone, they have addressed one company over the citizens’ rights to have their home in a safe, secure, and mayhem-free zone.
When you’ve re zoned all the livable areas for tourist attractions, what’s left for workers and permanent residents? What happens next?
Perturbed citizen,
