Carroll County Treasurer Makita Williams has been elected to serve on the executive board of the Arkansas County Treasurers’ Association. She will serve as treasurer.

The election took place during the association’s summer meeting, held June 18-20 in Mountain View. Williams’ two-year term began July 1.

Williams began working for Carroll County as a dispatcher in 2010. She then served as the payroll deputy in the County Clerk’s office, before beginning her work in the Treasurer’s office under Cindy Collins in 2012.

Collins retired in 2018 and encouraged Williams to run for the office. “This was something I hadn’t even thought about or considered, but when the former treasurer reached out to me, encouraging me to run, it really honored me knowing this is something I can do,” Williams, who is now in her second term, said. “It is an honor to help serve the Arkansas County Treasurers’ Association. It made my heart happy knowing my fellow treasurers voted me in, and I will give it my all for them.”

Williams gives credit to Deputy Treasurers Ronda Deitrich and Samantha Badley. “I couldn’t do it without them,” she said.
