Eureka Springs City Council’s Jan. 24 meeting was short and to the point with only a few items on the agenda.

Finance Director Lonnie Clark explained that only two changes had been made to the 2022 budget, $12,000 dollars for the Cemetery Commission to make renovations, and a change to the City Clerk’s budget. Alderman Terry McClung made the motion to pass Res. #816 to establish the budget with alderman Harry Meyer seconding. The budget passed unanimously.

Hospital Commission nominations for Mike Dwyer and Sharon Deramus passed unanimously. Parks Commission nominations for Edward Robinson III and Pat Costner also passed unanimously. Mayor Butch Berry informed commissioners there was another application for a position on Parks for the next meeting.

A public hearing to discuss food trucks and the possible passing of an ordinance expanding slots on US 62 to Hwy. 23 was held. There were no comments from the public.

Berry told council that a local Realtor had approached with a client wishing to purchase an empty lot on Main St. across from where the horse carriages once sat. He said he’d send aldermen the parcel number and legal description of the lot and bids would need to be opened for the property if council chooses to sell.
