Constance “Connie” Del Bourgo Schrader of Eureka Springs, Ark., and formerly of New York City, N.Y. died on Sunday, October 26 in Bentonville. She was 92 years old. Connie is survived by her husband, Ernst J. Schrader, Jr., 8 nieces and nephews, 13 great-nieces and nephews and 2 great-great nieces.
Beloved for her flair for fashion, her incredible wit and warm heart, she was a trailblazer for women in the New York publishing world, holding leadership roles at many of the industry’s most prestigious publishing houses including Simon and Schuster, MacMillian, and Meredith. Connie was a mentor for the next generation of professionals. Her support and guidance helped to shape the careers of countless editors, designers and artists.
In Eureka Springs, Connie was a devoted volunteer at the Good Shepherd Thrift Shop. She was a collector of quilts and loved to find a good deal. She gifted many of her finds to family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Humane Society in Eureka Springs, Ark. The family invites you to a celebration of her life at the Eureka Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Eureka Springs on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. A reception will follow.
