Constables on Patrol

January 2

1:36 a.m. – Constable on patrol responded to an alarm at a business. He found the building secure and nothing out of place.

10:30 a.m. – There was a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 23 South. No injuries.

11:16 a.m. – Resident near downtown reported a pickup which had been parked in the same spot for two weeks now had hoses beside it as though someone had siphoned gas.

11:58 a.m. – Witness saw a hooded person enter the back window of a business. Constables arrived and detained him. Property owners were called, but they did not press charges. Person was released.

3:03 p.m. – Constables were called to investigate a possibly stolen and forged check. Turns out the check was good and no report was necessary.

10:27 p.m. – Central dispatch reported a possible domestic situation at a residence near downtown. A father told the responding constable his son would not go to bed, so he spanked him.

January 3

1:04 a.m. – Individual noticed one of her checks was missing as well as funds from her account, so she spoke with a constable.

10:13 p.m. – An individual was inebriated enough he could not get into his house or locate anyone to pick him up, so the constable arrested him for public intoxication.

January 4

10:12 a.m. – There was a minor two-vehicle accident in a parking lot.

11:32 a.m. – Another two-vehicle accident, this time at the intersection of US 62 and Hwy. 23 South. No injuries.

11:43 a.m. – A loose and unattended dog wandered around an apartment complex for a couple of days, so a resident tried to catch it but to no avail. Animal Control surveilled the scene but did not encounter the dog. AC will continue to check for it.

January 5

9:08 a.m. – A wanted person was arrested by a state trooper on a traffic stop in Boone County. He was transported from Alpena to the Carroll County jail for holding.

January 6

8:42 a.m. – Constables went to the high school to investigate a report of drug use on the property.

January 7

2:44 a.m. – CCSO alerted ESPD to a possibly suicidal male at a local motel. Constable spoke with the individual, and EMS transported him to ESH.

2:06 p.m. – Person reported her wallet had been stolen out of a vehicle.

10:43 p.m. – Traffic stop resulted in the arrest of the driver for driving on a suspended license.

10:49 p.m. – Constable responded to report of a fight at a place of business in the western part of town. Constable arrived to find no one fighting nor was there littered evidence to suggest pugilism.

January 8

12:53 a.m. – As the result of a traffic stop, the driver was arrested for speeding, driving on a suspended license, fictitious vehicle license, on a Berryville warrant for failure to appear, possession of a counterfeit substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. A passenger was arrested for possession of a counterfeit substance scheduled I/II, possession of drug paraphernalia and on a Washington County felony warrant.

12:43 p.m. – Downtown merchant reported a bat was in the store. Animal Control removed it.

10:45 p.m. – Observer in a neighborhood in the eastern part of town reported two people had been sitting and smoking in a vehicle parked nearby for 45 minutes. Constable responded and found the vehicle empty.
