July 30

10:47 a.m. – Individual wanted on an ESPD warrant turned himself in.

1:18 p.m. – Wandering, unaccompanied dog showed up on someone’s porch. Animal Control returned the animal to its owner with a warning about loose and unattended dogs.

2:11 p.m. – Man at a care facility called ESPD because he got a scam phone call.

10:10 p.m. – Resident near downtown claimed someone was breaking into her back door. Constables scoured the area and found everything secure.

July 31

9:10 a.m. – Constable and apartment manager assisted a Department of Human Services officer with a client who would not open the door.

6:09 p.m. – Constable performed a welfare check and found the person doing okay.

7:45 p.m. – Constable attempted to perform another welfare check on two minors but could not find them.

9:37 p.m. – There was a 911 hang-up call, but the constable could not find any signs of a problem in the vicinity.

August 1

5:26 a.m. – A deer was hit by two vehicles. Constable responded to the scene but did not find the deer.

7:15 p.m. – Complaint came in about a barking dog. The constable found the dog with water and food, but the owner was not around.

7:52 p.m. – Constable was unable to perform a welfare check because the person was not there.

8:32 p.m. – Constable again went to the origin of a 911 hang-up call and no one was there.

11:39 p.m. – Individual wanted by CCSO was served his warrant and transported to the county facility.

11:54 p.m. – Concerned observer reported two people slumped suspiciously in a parked vehicle in a downtown parking lot. Vehicle was gone when the constable arrived.

August 2

10:27 a.m. – Downtown barber told ESPD two individuals tried to break into his cash register while he was cutting someone’s hair. They scurried away when he confronted them, and constables searched the area.

1:05 p.m. – Passerby called in a minor two-vehicle accident on US 62. Constables on the scene learned it was not an accident, just a delivery truck unloading.

3:20 p.m. – Tractor-trailer reportedly blocking traffic on Main Street was already gone when the constable arrived.

3:35 p.m. – Constable went looking for a vehicle being driven recklessly but did not encounter it.

3:44 p.m. – There was an accident on US 62.

7:57 p.m. – Constable found the subject of a welfare check doing well.

9:54 p.m. – Witness reported an intoxicated person, but the constable never found him.

August 3

4:56 a.m. – Individuals pitched a tent on public property. The constable advised them of local ordinances prohibiting camping, so they decamped.

6:31 a.m. – Motel guests claimed their property had been taken from their room while they were gone. Responding constable was able to resolve claim.

11:17 a.m. – Individual was arrested on a warrant out of Berryville PD.

1:02 p.m. – There was a minor two-car crash on US 62 in the western part of town. Both vehicles were out of the roadway and there were no injuries.

1:21 p.m. – Several people complained about the driver of a particular vehicle revving the engine loudly and driving recklessly. Constables never encountered the vehicle.

6:14 p.m. – An intoxicated male left the scene before a constable could check up on him.

6:36 p.m. – Report came in about a stalled vehicle near ESH, but the constable never saw it.

August 4

12:52 a.m. – Constables responded to an accident on Hwy. 23 South and arrested the driver for reckless driving, DWI-drugs and no insurance.

7:12 a.m. – Two vehicles without handicapped placards were parked in the handicapped spots at Lake Leatherwood City Park, so the constable issued citations.

9 a.m. – Individual was sleeping behind a business downtown, and the constable on patrol encouraged him to wake up and move along.

11:42 a.m. – Concerned motorist called in an erratic driver headed toward town from the west, but constables did not encounter the vehicle.

12:18 p.m. – As the result of an accident on Hwy. 23 South, one person was transported to ESH and cited for DWI-drugs.

2:19 p.m. – A mother told ESPD she had been locked out of her motel room by her daughter and the daughter’s boyfriend who were in the room yelling at each other. The constable told the couple to stop hollering or they would be asked to leave.

4:09 p.m. – Constable filed a theft report.

6:55 p.m. – There was a hit-and-run accident on US 62 toward the eastern edge of town.

7:04 p.m. – Constable performed a welfare check. Everybody was just fine.

7:38 p.m. – Observer thought a person lurking nearby seemed suspicious. Constables told him to leave the property and not come back.

August 5

1:16 a.m. – Residents in the east part of town reported seeing lights flashing outside their house. Constables looked around but did not find anything to report.

9:54 a.m. – Parked vehicle on Main Street partially obstructed the flow of traffic causing vehicles to swerve around it. Constable could not find its owner and issued a citation. The vehicle was later towed.

10:59 a.m. – Individual told ESPD her debit card and been lost or stolen, and a report was filed. She later found it.

12:52 p.m. – A small dog was locked inside a car parked in front of a restaurant. Windows of the vehicle were cracked, but Animal Control negotiated with restaurant staff to allow the animal to go inside in a pet carrier for safety.

9:17 p.m. – Person previously asked to leave a property had returned to the scene with a female companion, and he had blood on his face. He ran away, but constables found him in another neighborhood and arrested him for public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance.

11:14 p.m. – A tree fell on a power line in the east part of town, and constables assisted ESFD and the utility company.
