Constables on Patrol

April 30

9:11 a.m. – ESFD reported someone had broken into their hazmat trailer at the Public Works yard.

9:49 a.m. – Individual reported her phone was missing and she had tracked it to a certain address but could not reach anyone there. Constable filed a report.

2:27 p.m. – Individual who appeared to be selling something in Basin Park was reported to be screaming and cursing and wearing only underwear. Constable told her to stop cussing at people and keep control of her dog.

3:58 p.m. – Constables responded to a domestic dispute and arrested one person for possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia, residential burglary and criminal mischief.

4:19 p.m. – Witness reported a person camping behind a business. The person told the constable it was not a campout, just a rest stop on the way to somewhere.

4:40 p.m. – Alarm at a business prompted a visit from the constable who found the building secure.

6:12 p.m. – Central dispatch reported a 911 hang-up call from just above downtown, but constable found everything was okay.

8 p.m. – Constable spoke to a reportedly erratic driver about not driving erratically.

10:11 p.m. – Alarm at the same business was triggered again, and the constable again found everything okay.

May 1

1:22 a.m. – Constable patrolling downtown arrested a person for public intoxication.

11:04 a.m. – Something set off the alarm at an ATM, but constable determined it had not been tampered with.

12:44 p.m. – Someone possibly trying to break in damaged the front door of a business on Main St.

6:57 p.m. – Person complained about loud music in a neighborhood. Constable saw folks milling about but did not hear any music.

7:03 p.m. – Manager of a business told ESPD two people in a carelessly parked pickup seemed suspicious. Truck was gone when constable arrived.

7:09 p.m. – Driver who was speeding and being reckless in a neighborhood almost ran over a cat. Constables watched for the vehicle but never encountered it.

9:51 p.m. – Vehicle was parked in the ESH parking lot such that the MRI truck could not enter. Constable found the owner and got the vehicle moved.

May 2

8:41 a.m. – Owner of a vehicle parked at a repair shop reported items were missing from the vehicle.

11:28 a.m. – Hospital in Russellville asked for a welfare check on an individual in town who was reportedly incoherent and maybe needing his medications. Constable found the person waiting for a ride and determined he was okay.

2:50 p.m. – Resident told ESPD a woman not allowed on the property was back again. Constables looked for but did not encounter her.

2:51 p.m. – Someone took a hose, sprinkler and nozzle from a property near downtown.

4:22 p.m. – Constable responded to an address to discuss a civil issue.

8:50 p.m. – Concerned caller reported a possibly suicidal person. Constables and EMS responded to check on the individual.

May 3

5:04 p.m. – Constable checked for a downed utility line.

6:26 p.m. – Person at a business was arrested for public intoxication.

4:29 p.m. – Video surveillance recorded an instance of trespassing. Constable filed a report.

5:14 p.m. – Woman called to say she was depressed and thinking of harming herself. Constables and EMS responded and she was transported to ESH for evaluation.

7:51 p.m. – ESH reported the suicidal person just brought in had run out the back door. Constables checked the vicinity and her residence to no avail and continued to watch for her.

10:43 p.m. – Constable went to Benton County to bring back a person wanted on an ESPD warrant for failure to appear.

May 4

2:33 a.m. – Constable spoke with a motel guest who had been altercating.

1:23 p.m. – A problem with a door caused the alarm to sound off. Constable arrived to find the owner fixing the problem.

6:50 p.m. – Constable filed a report on a dispute between two residents at a care facility.

11:17 p.m. – As a result of a traffic stop, the driver was arrested for DWI, implied consent/refusal to submit, driving left of center and no tail lights.

11:27 p.m. – Someone reported suspicious vehicle activity near a bar, but the vehicles were already gone when the constable arrived.

May 5

10:33 a.m. – Restaurant employee asked to speak with a constable about suspicious circumstances.

10:41 a.m. – Passerby reported a possibly intoxicated male stumbling down a road in the south part of town. Constable did not encounter him.

11:42 a.m. – Witness called in a person downtown looking into parked vehicles. Constable arrested the person on an outstanding ESPD warrant and for possession of a controlled substance.

8:23 p.m. – Two individuals were fighting in a gas station parking lot. They were still at the scene when constables arrived, and the situation was resolved peacefully.

9:50 p.m. – Traffic stop resulted in the arrest of the driver for driving on a suspended license and on an outstanding Berryville PD warrant.

11:30 p.m. – Resident in the east part of town reported a trespasser. Constables checked but did not find anyone.

May 6

12:12 a.m. – There was a domestic kerfuffle at a tourist lodging, and after constables responded the couple went separate ways for the evening.

10:24 a.m. – A grandmother in an apartment complex at the eastern edge of town said a loose and unattended dog bit her two granddaughters. Animal Control and a constable responded and found the dog’s owner.

10:26 a.m. – A man wanted in a harassment complaint was reported to be at a location in the south part of town, but constables did not encounter him there. Deputies later arrested him outside of town.

12:26 p.m. – Central dispatch alerted ESPD to a rolling domestic dispute headed toward town from the east. Constables never saw the vehicle.

3:13 p.m. – Resident claimed a person he did not know had been hanging around asking for beer and things, so he asked for extra patrols in the area since he would be gone during the evening. Constables put on extra patrols.

4:57 p.m. – Landlord told ESPD a couple of renters were engaged in a screaming episode, and the landlord wanted them to leave. Constable intervened, and the couple agreed to move out by mid-month.

6:08 p.m. – A father spoke with a constable about a custody issue.

6:17 p.m. – Motorist reported a hearse crossing the centerline on its way south toward town. Constable did not see it.

6:50 p.m. – Constable went to ESH to take a report of a patient who had a moped accident.

7:55 p.m. – Someone claimed a vehicle in the neighborhood was suspicious, but it was gone before a constable got there.

9:35 p.m. – Constable watched for a possibly reckless driver in the east part of town.
