Charles Malcolm McAlister was born on Feb. 23, 1936, in Greenville, Illinois. He grew up in the small Midwest town, but his heart was always in the Ozarks. He worked as a psychiatric social worker for the Veterans Administration.
He was a philosopher, free thinker and author. He spent many years in Newton County, where he built his own homestead out of Arkansas pine on a lovely property with a year-round spring.
He finished his life in Carroll County, in Holiday Island, where he left behind many friends. He died on August 3, 2024, at home, under the care of the most excellent Elite Hospice nurse Christina and in the company of Adrienne Gremillion, an angel in human form.
He left behind two daughters, Kelly and Erin, and a granddaughter, Catherine, who all reside in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
