Candy Bank is back

701

Editor,

Halloween is upon us again and I am excited to announce that the White Street Candy Bank is open for business and accepting donations, following two very UNsweet Covid years. In 2019 the Candy Bank accepted and distributed a whopping 400+ pounds (street value of $800) of candy from 50 donors, making it possible for more Upper Historic Loop residents to participate in the fun without breaking their budget. Last year, without the Candy Bank we counted over 1200 Trick-or-treaters and expect just as many again.

Anyone wishing to make a deposit can bring bags of candy, small giveaway toys or healthy treats to Regalia Handmade Clothing at 16 White now through Halloween. Cash donated will be used to purchase candy by candy bank volunteers. Upper Historic loop residents withdrawing candy to distribute can pick it up at Regalia beginning October 30. Weather and safety updates can be found at the Candy Bank Facebook page.

Our heartiest Thank Yous go out to everyone involved, and to the city’s promotional entities that have honored the neighborhood’s requests to keep this nostalgic, resident-funded event off the event calendars and “in the ‘hood.”
