Brenda Sue Bell, of Eureka Springs, Ark., was born October 12, 1941, in Clifty, Ark., daughter of Lloyd and Freda M. (Mullins) Brown, passed away Dec. 12, 2019, in Springdale, Arkansas at age 78.
She is preceded by her parents; sister Karlina Dodd and brother Robert Brown.
She is survived by husband Ronnie Lee Bell of the home; daughter Jody Crittenden and husband, Donald (Fuzzy); daughter Penney Barrett and husband, Doug; four grandchildren Jonathan Hutton and wife Mika, Jacquelynn Davis, Paul Brackenbury, Bradly Brackenbury and wife, Imelda; three great grandchildren Blake, Samantha, and Emerson Hutton.
Brenda spent two years in the Civil Air Patrol, an Auxiliary of the United States Air Force. In 1958 she married the love of her life, Ronnie L Bell. In 1981 they moved to Green Forest, Ark., where they owned and operated Ma Brown’s Blue Berry Farm and Antique Store.
In 1984 they bought Crescent Cottage Inn Bed and Breakfast in Eureka Springs. Brenda helped organize the Bed and Breakfast Cabin and Cottage Organization, serving as president for one term. She was past president of the Historic Preservation Society for three terms. She was also a commissioner on the Historic District Commission for three terms and served as commissioner for Mayor Louise Berry’s Special Board of Review.
Brenda professed her faith in Jesus Christ in March 1989, was baptized in the Kings River, and joined the Faith Christian Family Church in October 1989. Brenda loved Eureka Springs, her family and friend with all her heart, and always tried to have a kind word and a smile for each saying, “I hope it may brighten their day.”
