Berryville Library almost halfway to fundraising goal

December marked a significant milestone in the Berryville Library Building Project’s efforts to build a new library by the year 2025. It was announced at the annual Friends of the Library meeting that just over $1,000,000 has been pledged or raised so far, representing about 46 percent of the $2.5 million fundraising goal.

The capital campaign kicked off April 1, 2021, with a press conference announcing the project, introducing the architects, and unveiling the plans for a new library. To date, major supporters of the project include the Burt & Alice George Estate, who contributed seed money for the project, and the City of Berryville, which is donating the four-acre tract of land across from the city pool and park. Other major contributors to date are CS Bank, Arvest, Anstaff, and First National Bank of North Arkansas, along with individuals and families.

“We are so grateful the community has recognized and embraced the need for an expanded library to meet the growing needs of our town, and we are all celebrating this wonderful milestone” Berryville Library Director Julie Hall said.

“It’s good to see how the community is supporting this effort,” Mayor Tim McKinney said. “I’m looking forward to the day when we have a library that matches the great staff and community support we are blessed to have in Berryville.”

The Friends of the Berryville Library obtained its 501(c))(3) non-profit status in 2020 to become the receiving organization so that donations are tax-deductible.
