Editor,
First, I thank all of you who support and patronize the Carnegie Public Library! It meant so much to me when I was director that I wanted to be able to continue to serve the community through the library and its programs.
I have committed to re-starting the Friends of the Carnegie Library organization, and I need your help!
A Friends group is important to any library, by helping with the daily expenses, programs and activities. It typically accomplishes this by volunteering, facilitating programs, and planning small fundraisers. Money from fundraisers can be used to buy small extra items that the budget doesn’t cover, or even books if the budget is tight.
Our Friends group used to pay for all the library’s periodicals (magazines and newspapers). What a gift!
If you would like to help re-start the Friends of the Carnegie Public Library, you can start right away! We will be working the Cornerstone Parking Lot on Saturday, Feb. 29; will host a Garden Clean Up Day for the new green space on Sunday, March 8 (rain date March 29); have a brainstorming meeting on Thursday, April 2 at 5 p.m. in the Meeting Room; and assist with an Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 25 in the new green space. Please join us for any and all activities. If you have questions, contact the library. I can’t wait to see you all soon!
