Another way to look at it

My wife and I have never lived in Eureka Springs, but we have visited and spent a lot of money locally on hundreds of trips over the last 40 years.  It has always been one of our most favorite destinations, and we have made many friends there that we have grown old with, watched their children grow up, and sadly watched their businesses come and go.

Up until my retirement 9 years ago, I was a weekly reader of the local Eureka Springs news, and really got a lift from the local flavor, interesting stories and more. The last few years I have visited the press less frequently and today decided to catch up on what was going on.

  I logged into your web site and started reading the electronic version and noted to myself that the format seemed changed a little. Then I got to the page where people wrote in to spew hate and vitriol against our President, and I realized the Times Echo was the paper I had gravitated to over the years for exactly this reason.

I could go on for hours of constructive debate but suffice it to say that the letters you published in the latest issue, which I assume are typical of those received regularly, are a massive turn-off to anyone that is not a rabid, TDS [Trump Derangement Syndrome] infected liberal. You are doing your community no favors publishing these hate filled and mostly exaggerated and inaccurate rants.

Like it or not, the country at large supports our President, and we have discovered through the years that there are many very nice, smart, friendly conservatives living, working and owning businesses in your community. When I ask about the types of letters you publish, they cringe and say “we just ignore it.” So I have to ask, why do you so readily publish hateful opinions and anti-American rants? Are you intentionally trying to divide your city much in the way the country is divided by the same hateful style?

In the future, when the city fathers explore the question of why Eureka Springs has high business turnover and obvious times of economic weakness, maybe they should realize that inclusivity means everyone. Liberals have gone so far off the deep end that they still want to rant about a so-called “insurrection” that happened 5 years ago, but don’t want to acknowledge the lies and deception regularly practiced by the Biden administration for 4 years, resulting is hardships for every American.

  What a sad way to live.
