Animals need a leg up

Editor,

The best thing Nan and I did when moving to Eureka Springs in 2011 was respond to a flyer about a volunteer orientation for Good Shepherd Humane Society. We signed up and got started: whether scooping out kitty litter boxes, walking dogs, helping out at special adoption events or fundraisers, answering the phone in the office, working at the “Doggie Store” in Eureka, or fostering (66 dogs and cats over the years), it has been a blessed journey.

We are so grateful not only for all the wonderful cats and dogs we have met, but also the dear friends we made with other volunteers and staff. There has been so much love given and received by both two- and four-footed critters! Hope you too can volunteer! The Good Shepherd thrift store in Eureka really could use some more volunteers right now. Call the shelter at (479) 253-9188 or the Eureka store at (479) 253-9115 for more info.
