Another week to find something to keep yourself busy while staying isolated and away from society as much as you possibly can. I have spent my time with Angela and Leon painting our living room “Cappuccino Foam” and learning to make fried chicken. I am happy to announce that it turned out delicious: the chicken not the paint, though it looks really good as well.
In the name of positivity, the one thing I like about a lack of schedule is I have so much room to just talk about the groups that have impressed me in their visits to Eureka. In the name of doing just that, let’s talk Fossils of Ancient Robots. I love a good electro pop group and this band is one that gives that sweet, computer synth that might make you think of a warbling mass of colors on canvas without sacrificing lyricism. It’s my own little Fantasia in my head whenever I listen to anything with synth.
Since I’ve already started with an alternative choice to Eureka’s often-folksy music selection I might as well keep going and you should too. A great way to do that is listening to DJ Testube’s podcast “Outbreak in the Ozarks” on Monday. An hour long of his favorite breaking alternative, electronic, and indie pop tracks all mixed into a smooth jam to listen to while keeping busy at home. Episode Two happens to have a remix by Caleb Lindsay of Fossils of Ancient Robots. I chose to talk about the band before I knew that but I am going to chalk it up to serendipity. The universe wanted it to happen. You can find the podcast on outbreakradio.com so go give it a listen.
I am signing off, as I am once again needed to reach the higher sections of ceiling in the house. The project is the dining area and kitchen! In the meantime have this random photo of my kid. I was trying to get a cute close up of his smile but he took too much interest in my cell phone and knocked it out of focus. Oh well, it’s still cute. Isolation isn’t so bad with loving family, reruns of every Star Trek from Original Series to Voyager, and newly painted walls.
