Editor,
My name is Charlette Cook. I am the person who is having a life in spite of the people who would rather I were a stereotypical black woman. In fact I have chosen not to be black stereotypically because I believe we are all soul and only part body. I believe our identities no longer lay in the hands of others.
Having grown up in California during the Women’s Movement, raising our consciousness and all, I am rarely averted from a goal due to intimidation.
I am here to stay. And I will remain on my own path in my own identity since the identity given me was not the truth in the first place.
