Airplane fuel still a good value

At a brief meeting March 17, the Carroll County Airport Commission prepared to resume monthly Fly-in events. Although chilly weather was forecast for Saturday, March 18, the sunny day inspired some pilots to arrive for the breakfast event.

Pilots still found a bargain price on fuel, and another well-timed fuel purchase will allow the airport to offer a competitive price even after imposing a 25 percent mark-up.

After a brief discussion, the commission approved a 10 percent discount from the standard rate for lease-holders and pilots based at the airport.

The changing seasons will bring a focus on mowing, and Airport Manager Mark Pepple briefly discussed preparations. He also mentioned repairing a windsock after wind damage. The short meeting closed on an optimistic note, as commissioner Sandy Martin said, “I think we’re in better shape than we’ve ever been.”
