Add a little spice to a chilly evening

This weekend marks the 6th annual Chili Cook-off and Cornbread Contest at Inspiration Point Fire Department. Held every year in the fall, it’s an event to not be missed if you are a chili fanatic or just looking for a good time with community.

This year’s competition was opened up to those outside the IP district to show off their chili recipes, with more than 10 contestants making chili and around 7 – 8 baking cornbread.

There are no requirements to qualify for the contest; it is up to the cooks what they put in and how they cook it, which means that there may be interesting combinations for you to taste test and judge for yourself. As always, there will be a silent auction running alongside the competition. You must be present to claim your items. There will also be live music by Good Shepherd Pickers.

The Chili Cook-off and Cornbread contest begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17 at IPFD Station 1, 31 Ozark Automotive Rd. with judging ending at 6 p.m. and chili served afterwards. It’s only $8 for chili, cornbread, iced tea, and dessert.

All proceeds benefit Inspiration Point Fire Department Auxiliary to help them purchase any equipment and gear they need to keep fighting fires.
