Next week I’m having the quintessential operation of people my age. I’m getting a new hip and will become bionic! I’m relieved I’m having this operation before the end of the year because Republicons in Congress are dead set on making sure we have no healthcare. Their next run on our health will be in their tax bill. The “reform” bill they are introducing is a giant give away to top one percent of our population.

A recent NPR report stated that eight men own the same amount of wealth as one half the world’s poorest people in a population of eight billion people. Our one percent owns one- half of the entire world’s wealth! That is obscene, but the Republicons don’t think they have enough. David Koch agrees and was quoted as saying, “I’ll have enough when I have it all.” The upcoming Republicon bill will give him what he wants.

Of course, the money has to come from somewhere; some of the programs being cut or eliminated to pay for this giant upward suck of money:

  • Medicaid (Paul Ryan’s life-long dream)
  • Food Stamps
  • Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP is already gone)
  • Housing Assistance
  • Public Schools and Libraries
  • Public highways
  • National Forests and Parks
  • Public Television
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
  • Privatization of the VA

These destructive details will be couched in positive terms like “Infrastructure Investment” and “School Choice.”

Ironically, this budget will hurt states with strong Trump support the most, whose citizens are already in financial distress. Distracted by Trump’s tweets insulting his ever-new foe, his supporters are being conditioned to dislike anyone “different,” and are missing the bigger picture. This chaos being sown in our society is to cover up their blatant heist.

Stopping this monstrous theft of our society’s wealth needs everyone, from all political sides, to work together. It’s time to say No to overwhelming greed.

Call Steve Womack, John Boozman and Tom Cotton. Tell them how you feel about their collusion in the theft of our Treasury on behalf of the 1%.
