Skinny Gypsies, the four man Irish punk band with no recordings, no bumper stickers, no t-shirts and no website will raise the rafters Saturday at Chelsea’s before and after the St. Patrick’s Day parade. This is where St. Paddy would be and what he would listen to if he were in Arkansas.
Sure and Lenora, St. Patrick’s Day is Saturday and once again we attempt to drink like the Irish! In that vein we offer up the St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl, starting and ending at Chelsea’s, with an outdoor break at 2 to view the parade. Tradition of the crawl has been digitally updated with an app called Actionbound, a free download. Search “bounds nearby” to find the Eureka crawl. A selfie scavenger hunt is included, so dress in your best outrageous green! Of course you can old-school it without the phone, just purchase a ticket at Chelsea’s, Brews, Rowdy Beaver Den, Lucky 7, Henri’s, Eureka Live!, New Delhi Cafe or the Cathouse. On Wednesday night Chelsea’s is hosting Reeves Gabrels, a guitarist who partnered with David Bowie for years, co-producing two of his albums. He also shared the stage with Bowie as a member of rock band Tin Machine. Currently a member of The Cure, a British Alt/Rock band, Gabrels has released six solo albums over the years. He likes to keep his feet on the ground by playing small venues with hometown crowds, so go experience a unique combo of rock, jazz and blues.
